Terms of Service

Last updated: June 2026

Not a crisis service or medical provider

Avelune is a peer support community, not a licensed mental health service. Content shared here is not professional advice. If you are in crisis, please contact 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988) or your local emergency services.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Avelune ("Service"). By creating an account or using Avelune, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Avelune. By creating an account you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, please use Avelune only with parental awareness.

2. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity under it. You must provide a valid email address and keep it up to date. You may not create multiple accounts to evade a suspension or ban.

You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account. Deletion is permanent and irreversible.

3. Community rules

Avelune exists to provide a safe space for peer support. You agree not to:

  • Post content that is abusive, harassing, threatening, or discriminatory
  • Share content that promotes or glorifies self-harm or suicide
  • Impersonate another person or claim to be a mental health professional when you are not
  • Post spam, advertisements, or unsolicited promotions
  • Share explicit sexual content
  • Post private information about another person without their consent (doxxing)
  • Attempt to bypass the platform's security measures or rate limits
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose

Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or a permanent ban, at our discretion. Serious violations involving imminent harm may be reported to relevant authorities.

4. Content ownership and license

You retain ownership of the content you post on Avelune. By posting, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store and display your content to other users of the Service, solely for the purpose of operating Avelune.

We do not claim ownership of your content and will not sell it. When you delete your content or account, this license ends.

5. Anonymous use

Avelune is designed for anonymity. Your username is displayed to other users but your email address is not. Do not include identifying information in your posts, username, or profile if you wish to remain anonymous — we cannot automatically detect or remove it.

Anonymous does not mean consequence-free. All content is still subject to these Terms and community moderation.

6. Not a substitute for professional help

Avelune provides peer support only. Nothing on this platform constitutes medical, psychiatric, or psychological advice. We strongly encourage anyone experiencing a mental health crisis, or who has concerns about their mental health, to consult a qualified healthcare professional.

Crisis resources are available at any time within the app via the red crisis banner and the Resources page.

7. Moderation and enforcement

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms and to suspend or terminate accounts. We are not obligated to provide advance notice before taking action, though we will aim to communicate the reason when possible.

You may report content or users using the in-app report tools. We take all reports seriously and review them as promptly as we can.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

Avelune is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. Use the Service at your own risk.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Avelune and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including damages resulting from content posted by other users.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date above. Continued use of Avelune after changes are posted constitutes acceptance. For significant changes we will post an in-app notice.
