Delete your account
Last updated: October 2026
You can delete your Avelune account at any time, and the data in it goes with it. This works the same wherever you use Avelune. Deleting is permanent: an account cannot be brought back afterwards.
Removing the app from your phone does not delete your account. To delete it, follow the steps below.
1. Delete it yourself
- Sign in to Avelune.
- Open Settings. It is on the You tab, and in the More menu.
- Choose Account.
- Under Danger zone, choose Delete my account.
- Enter your password, then choose Delete permanently.
Your account and data are deleted straight away, and you are signed out. If you would like a copy of what you wrote first, use Settings, then Your data, then Download my data before you delete.
An account that is suspended cannot be deleted until the suspension ends. If you need help with that, write to the admin through Feedback.
2. What is deleted
- Your profile, username, email address and password
- Your posts, replies and reactions
- Your one-to-one conversations, including the messages in them, and the messages you sent in group chats
- Photos you sent in messages, and screenshots you attached to feedback
- Your mood check-ins, journal entries and “did this help?” answers
- Your Talk cards and listener requests, and notes you wrote for the jar
- Any question you shared on the public avelune.app/asked pages
- Feedback you sent and reports you made
- Your blocks, mutes, settings and notifications
- Your devices' notification sign-ups, and the approximate location and device record described in the Privacy Policy
3. What is kept, and for how long
- Commons messages. Messages you wrote in Commons channels are not removed with your account. They stay in the channel with no username or account attached and are cleared on that channel's own schedule, which is 30 days unless the admin has set a different length, or no limit, for that channel. To take them out of sight sooner, delete them yourself before you delete your account: a deleted message is hidden from members straight away and cleared on the same schedule.
- Records of support connections. A record that a Talk connection was made is kept for safety oversight, with your account removed from it.
- Safety records. The admin's log of moderation and account actions is kept. Content that was reported for a safety review may be kept for a reasonable period to finish that review.
- Bans. If the account was banned, the one-way hashes used to stop it being made again (of an IP address, a device or an email address) are kept until the admin lifts the ban. They cannot be turned back into the original details.
- Backups. Backups may hold deleted data for up to 30 days before it is purged.
Visit statistics from Cloudflare and Google Analytics are not linked to your account, so they are not part of a deletion. The Privacy Policy explains what they record.
4. If you can't sign in
If you forgot your password, reset it on the reset your password page, sign in, and follow the steps above.
If you no longer have the email address, write to the admin through Feedback, say which username the account had, and ask for it to be deleted. Sending feedback needs an account, so you may need to make a new one to do this. The admin can delete an account and its data in the same way as the steps above.
5. Questions
The Privacy Policy covers what Avelune collects and why. Questions about deleting an account can go through Feedback.
